A tatai Öreg-tavon éjszakázó madarak - elsősorban nagy lilikek - tájat befedő rajokban történő hajnali kihúzása a ködös, hideg téli napokon, lélegzetelállító látványt nyújt. A sikeres helyi természetvédelmi intézkedéseknek köszönhetően, mint a szilveszteri tűzijátékok és a petárdák használatának betiltása, a tavon évről-évre egyre nagyobb, akár több tízezres egyedszámú vadlúdcsapatok telelnek.

Tata, Old lake. The morning wake of the vast flock of mainly white-fronted geese in the cold, misty winter mornings, as they cover the whole scenery, offers a spectular sight. Due to succesful environmental protection measures, such as banning the use of fireworks and firecrackers at New Year's Eve, ever larger flocks of wild geese opt to overwinter here. Their respective population can be up to tens of thousands.
